Religious Education

At Iqra Academy, we follow the Bradford Agreed Syllabus endorsed by SACRE. By the end of year 6, all pupils have a good understanding and respect for the six main religions. (Islam, Christianity, Sikhism, Hinduism, Judaism and Buddhism). Pupils are taught key facts about each religion as well as being able to show empathy towards one another. We visit different places of worship and have visitors to school from other faiths.

At Iqra Academy we follow the Bradford spiral curriculum. This is delivered through various areas of the curriculum including circle time and RE. We actively promote British Values, as defined under the Ofsted guidance 2014, to prepare our children for life in modern Britain. We value the diverse backgrounds of all pupils and families and undertake a variety of events and lessons to celebrate these. We also actively challenge opinions contrary to these British values.

Pupils are taught the value and reasons behind rules and laws. They are also taught to take responsibility for their actions and the consequences for themselves and others if rules and laws are broken. Our positive behaviour policy encourages tolerance and mutual respect.
